Chronicles of the Giantess — Chapter 3: Rebirth as a Giantess

The column of molten gold hits me like a furnace door swinging open—not burning, but pouring raw, heavy heat straight into the marrow of my bones.

First comes the surge upward. It doesn’t hurt, but the sheer physical rush of it steals my breath. I feel every vertebra in my spine unlock and lengthen, pushing my head higher and higher into the silver mist as inches turn into feet. Below me, my legs stretch out long and powerful, dense cords of muscle packing onto my calves and quads as my frame shoots past five feet, past six, past seven, and keeps climbing until I stand a full eight feet tall.

The shift in perspective is dizzying. Where Ashley Grimes had spent twenty-three years looking up at countertops, shelf edges, and everyone around her, the stone floor now sits a whole world below my chin.

I hold my arms out in front of me and watch my hands reshape themselves. The raw, chapped knuckles from scrubbing diner dish tubs vanish, replaced by smooth, warm skin and long, strong fingers with a span wide enough to palm a basketball. When I flex my forearms, solid muscle shifts cleanly beneath the surface.

At the same time, my core tightens like braided iron cable. Where my stomach used to be soft from late-night shift meals and exhaustion, firm abdominal muscle pulls flat and solid beneath my ribs. My shoulders broaden, my collarbone widens, and my first deep breath draws in what feels like twice the air my old lungs could ever hold.

Then a different kind of warmth blooms across my chest, and my breath catches as the front of my glowing robe pulls taut. As Ashley, I’d been five feet nothing with modest B-cups that barely filled out my diner uniform. Now, as the golden light pulses through me, my breasts swell with sudden, generous fullness—heavy, high, and curving outward in proportions my old frame could never have dreamed of carrying. When I glance straight down, I realize with a jolt of shock that I can’t even see my own feet past them.

Before I can stop myself, I bring both hands up and cup them through the soft fabric, lifting them slightly just to test their weight. Holy crap. They’re real. I shift them in my palms in stunned disbelief, marveling at the heavy, warm heft of them and how they rise and press against my fingers with every breath I take.

The change doesn’t stop there. My waist draws in firm and tight before flaring sharply outward into wide, feminine hips that completely alter how I stand. Beneath the robe, my thighs thicken with dense, sculpted muscle until they brush solidly together when I shift my weight, and when I reach a hand behind me, I find my backside has filled out into a high, rounded curve—firm, heavy, and unapologetically full. This isn’t just a taller version of Ashley. It’s a warrior’s form and a bombshell’s figure rolled into one, built for standing ground and impossible to overlook.

All my life as Ashley, I had hunched my shoulders and tried to take up as little space as possible. This body refuses to hide. Every curve, every long line of muscle, every ounce of new weight declares that Valorie is meant to be seen.

Then I remember I’m not alone. My hands are still resting on my hips after thoroughly checking out my own chest and rear end right in front of the Angel of Death. Heat slams into my cheeks, and I snatch my hands back to my sides so fast my shoulders pop.

“Oh,” I whisper, and even my voice catches me off guard—deeper now, warm and resonant in my chest. “Oh, this is… a lot.”

“Everything appears to have landed in the right places,” Azazel says dryly, glancing up from his floating glass tablet with an amused smirk that tells me he definitely caught the entire inspection.

When I turn back to face him, a thick wave of rich auburn hair spills forward over my shoulder like burnished copper. I brush it back with long fingers, realizing with a start that my new eight-foot height puts me nearly eye-to-eye with him. For the first time in my existence, I’m not craning my neck up at anyone.

“All right, Valorie Stoneson,” Azazel says, flicking two fingers across his tablet toward the air between us. “Your vessel is locked in, and the System has finished compiling your starting sheet. Let’s see what you’re working with.”

A translucent window chimes into existence in front of my face, its crisp golden text as easy to read as a menu board:

VALORIE Level 1 · Giantess · Barbarian Age: 18

Attributes:

  • Strength: 16 (includes +4 racial bonus)
  • Constitution: 14 (includes +2 racial bonus)
  • Dexterity: 12
  • Intelligence: 13
  • Wisdom: 11
  • Charisma: 14

Racial Abilities:

  • Giant’s Reach: Extended melee range
  • Thick Skin (Basic): Physical damage reduced by 5%
  • Intimidating Presence: Bonus to intimidation

Unlockable Abilities: [Locked]

  • Earthquake Stomp: Shatter ground beneath enemies’ feet
  • Boulder Hurl: Tear chunks of earth and stone to throw
  • Titan’s Roar: Paralyze foes with thunderous war cry
  • Earthshaker: Send tremors through wide areas
  • Giant’s Leap: Cross vast distances in single bounds
  • Stone Skin: Transform skin to diamond hardness temporarily

Maximum Health: 42 | Maximum Mana: 65 | Experience: 0/200 toward Level 2 | Unspent Attribute Points: 0 | Unspent Skill Points: 0

The numbers mean something to me, though I can’t say how I know. A smaller line beneath them explains that each new level takes two hundred times my current level in experience. Two hundred to reach level two, then four hundred more for level three, with anything left over carrying forward.

Even-numbered levels grant two attribute points; every third level grants three skill points. Health grows with each level and with Constitution, while Intelligence determines how much mana I can hold. I understand the words, though knowing how to use any of it is another matter. My eyes drift back to the locked abilities.

“The abilities that are locked,” I say, pointing at the shimmering text. “Earthquake Stomp? Boulder Hurl? These sound incredible.” My finger traces over one ability in particular. “And Stone Skin—my flesh could become hard as diamonds?”

Azazel taps the side of his glass tablet. “Those are bloodline tier unlocks, kid. You don’t get the heavy artillery on day one just for signing the paperwork. Right now, your Strength and Constitution are already off the charts for a Level 1—sixteen Strength means you can out-muscle a draft horse before breakfast—while your Intelligence, Wisdom, and Dexterity start closer to human baseline. The higher-tier Earth Singer abilities wake up as you level, take real risks, and figure out how to use what’s in your veins.”

I picture it anyway—slamming my boot down to crack the earth under an attacker’s feet, tearing boulders out of the ground, shrugging off steel blades with diamond-hard skin. My pulse jumps with a clean, fierce excitement.

“And how do I earn experience?” I ask. “Just fighting?”

“Overcoming things that actually test you,” Azazel says, leaning an elbow on the air. “The System tracks courage, problem-solving, and survival against real odds—not bullying cellar rats for five coppers. Push yourself, learn your frame, and the levels will come.”

“Level one,” I murmur, curling my long fingers into a fist and feeling the dense, coiled power in my forearm. “I can work with that.”

“Considering where you were twenty minutes ago, I’d say it’s a hell of a promotion,” Azazel replies with a crooked smile.

The status window pulses once and folds inward, sinking into the back of my awareness where I can call it up with a thought.

Around us, the silver fog begins to thin, carrying the sudden, earthy smell of pine needles, woodsmoke, and morning air.

“All right, Valorie,” Azazel says, tucking his golden tablet inside his coat. “Your drop point is the village of Millhaven, right at dawn. Remember what I told you—the second you open your eyes in bed, that eighteen-year local backstory is going to unpack itself in your head. Take a breath, let it settle, and try not to break the furniture before you figure out your center of gravity.”

“Wait—break the furniture?”

“Sixteen Strength in a house built for normal humans,” he says, raising two fingers in a dry salute as the mist swirls up around my shoulders. “Good luck down there, kid. I’ll be keeping an eye on your readings.”

“Thank you, Azazel,” I manage before the floor drops out from under my bare feet. “For giving me a fighting chance.”

His warm amber eyes crinkle one last time through the gold light. “Make it count, Valorie Stoneson.”

Then real gravity catches hold of my eight-foot frame, and the afterlife disappears.
